Microsoft tools need an operating model
Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Azure can simplify collaboration and operations. Without clear roles, endpoint management, data paths, backup and documented responsibility, the environment can quickly become difficult to control. JITIS structures these dependencies before changes begin.
What should be defined in day-to-day operations
Whether a Microsoft 365 environment stays manageable day to day comes down to a few questions:
- Roles: Who holds privileged administrator roles, and how are those accounts protected?
- Sign-in: Is multifactor authentication (MFA) set up for all accounts?
- Devices: Which endpoints are managed through Intune, and which are not?
- Licences and domains: Do licences and domains match actual needs?
- Data and backup: Where is business data stored, and how is it backed up and restored?
- Azure: Which Azure services depend on the environment, and who looks after them?
Each item needs a named owner and short, current documentation. If the current state is unclear, a structured assessment first establishes findings and priorities; it is a technical review, not a certification or legal advice.
Setup and migration as a separate project
New setup, tenant takeover or migration is a separate, bounded project with a target model, pilot, testing, acceptance criteria and handover. The article Microsoft 365 migration for SMEs: inventory, pilot and handover describes the process.
What matters after implementation
Accounts, roles, endpoints, changes, network paths and recovery must remain accountable. Operations are therefore either handed over with documentation or continued under a defined managed scope. Licence-only sales and undefined around-the-clock coverage are outside the offer.
